Armstrong Electric Vehicles developed an off-road-only electric motorbike, Armstrong EB1that weighs as light as a small bike and gives speed of a big bike
Armstrong Electric Vehicles is a company that manufactures vehicles concepts produced by its R&D sister company, Armstrong Custom Fabrication. The founder of company Nathan Armstrong designed various electric automobiles, and airship before. Now as reported by the company, the new project of an electric motorbike is a cutting-edge vehicle that the company will deliver. The company has developed an e-motorbike named Armstrong EB1 that gives speed of a big bike and weighs equal to a small bike.
The new Armstrong EB1 is an off-road-only e-motorbike featuring a handmade 4130 chromoly steel trellis frame. It features an aluminum swigarm, a hemp or body panels of carbon fiber. The bike reported weighs 146 lb (66kg) and with its 6,000 watt brushless DC motor the e-bike can go to 60 mph (96 km/h) in around 3.5 seconds, and gives a max speed of around 68 mph (110 km/h). The e-bike is powered by 2.5 KWh/72 V lithium-ion battery pack, which can run for around 56 miles (90km) per 1.5 hour charge. The battery pack can be removed for swapping or recharging with already charged second battery. With the use of its touchscreen display, a rider can select between various drives modes including the walk mode for pushing the bike at top speed of 3mph (5km/hr). The drive modes include Walk mode, Snow mode, Eco mode, Race mode, Custom mode.
Moreover, this EB1 consists rear brake, which is not a mechanical one. The bike consists a 3D-printed electronic brake lever, which activates a hydraulic brake, however, it controls only one engine-braking-like system in the motor. The Armstrong Electric Vehicles is reported manufacturing a first batch of five bikes. The company is expected to start full production later in 2022, with EB1 at cost of US$ 11,700.
