The Indian government has announced regarding the 3rd phase of COVID-19 vaccination starting from May 1, 2021 for all the citizens between the age group of 18 to 45 years.
The 2nd phase of COVID-19 vaccination which had started from April 1, 2021, exactly a month later i.e. from May 1, 2021 India is set to start with the 3rd phase of vaccination. All the citizens of India will have to get registered on the CoWIN web portal or application and book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. In the initial stage of the 3rd phase walk-ins won’t be allowed to avoid chaos, official sources said.
Registration for getting the COVID-19 vaccine jab will begin on the CoWIN portal and Aarogya Setu Application from April 28. The vaccination procedure and documents that are to be produced at the time of vaccination remains the same. As per the Liberalized Pricing & Accelerated National COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, the vaccination will still remain free for the eligible individuals including healthcare workers, frontline workers, and individuals aged 45 years and above at the government authorized vaccination centers. The manufacturers of vaccine have to make a prior declaration before May 1, regarding the prices for 50% supply that will be available to the state government in the open market. On the basis of this price, states, private hospitals can obtain vaccine doses from manufacturers.
Private hospitals will have to obtain their respective supplies of COVID-19 vaccine wholly from the 50% supply reserved, other than the Indian Government channel. The price charged by private hospitals for the vaccination would be monitored. All vaccinations will be part of the National Vaccination Programme, and will be supervised on CoWIN portal along with the stocks and prices at all vaccination centers.
