A China-based automobile manufacturer, Great Wall Motor has revealed the production-spec Haval H2 (a midsize SUV), which is expected to be launched in India in 2021. The Haval H2 is the production form of the Concept H that was showcased in February 2020 at the 2020 Auto Expo (India). The company is now giving its models a unique name to break away the usual alphanumeric nomenclature. In China, the Haval H2 is known as the Haval First Love. One of its new SUVs revealed recently is Big Dog or Dagou. Moreover, GWM showcased the Haval F5, Haval H9, and Haval Vision 2025 at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Vision 2025 is an all-electric vehicle that shows GWM’s futuristic design language, together with battery electric vehicle technologies. Haval is GWM’s SUV sub-brand, and the H2 is one of Haval’s most affordable models. In China, the H2 is expected to be equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol unit that churns out 150 hp of power and 210 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Moreover, at the 2020 Auto Expo, GWM confirmed that the company will launch its first model through its sub-brand (Haval) in India in 2021.
The production-spec Haval H2 gets LED projector headlights with daytime running lights and the large, chromed-over mesh grille with additional LED guides mounted in the front bumper. The Haval H2 sticks with the H’s dashboard design, which includes a freestanding touchscreen, a rotary dial for the gear selector, a heads-up display, and a panoramic sunroof. The Haval H2 is based on the company’s Lemon platform. According to GWM, the Lemon platform lighter and can accommodate different types of powertrains. Moreover, the company plans to roll out petrol, electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell electric vehicles on this platform.
