On March 19, 2021, Google had revealed a new tool called ‘Threadit’ to enhance the work of professionals operating remotely.
The American tech giant, Google, has launched a new short-video recording platform ‘Threadit’ which mostly resembles TikTok. But this tool is developed specifically for the office-job and not for an entertainment purpose. This new tool from Google allows the users to record short videos of their work and share it with their company or team. This feature will help the remote-working employees to cover-up their missing work or points from their previous meetings and conferences. Developed by Google’s in-house incubator, Area 120, the Threadit tool is now available in the Chrome browser as an extension and as a website.
Google hopes that the Threadit app will help the employees working in a remote location to display progress in their work to the managers and among team members. This application will eliminate the need for unwanted meetings and give more time for employees to focus on their actual work. Also, the scheduling of meetings and tracking the progress of projects will become flexible on this virtual platform. The recorded video can be shared directly with the colleagues, hence, giving a personalized experience to its users. Additionally, the users can respond to these recorded videos when they are available and irrespective of time-zones. This creates an effective use of virtual services with a convenient way of communication among the employees of an organization.
It seems that the aftermath of COVID-19 virus will not be going anytime soon and the bliss of work-from-home is still expected to be bestowed upon most of the professionals. Moreover, the increased volume of virtual work and video-conferencing in several organizations will boost the use of the Threadit app.
