5G Telecom Service For Apple iPhone Users In India

Starting this week, Indian Apple users’ participants of iOS Beta software will experience 5G network service under its Apple Beta Software Program.

On October 5 5G services were announced in India and now Apple has confirmed that iOS 16.2 will support 5G in India. The beta users of iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone SE (3^rd generation) models can experience 5G service.

The Apple beta Software Program rolled out on 25^th October 2022 to its registered users in its developer program.

Apple’s beta programme is prerelease of latest software features before the public release.

On Wednesday the department of telecommunications (DoT) held a meeting in discussion of the progression of the 5G rollout in India where Apple Inc committed to opening the beta programme. Other device manufacturers 5G phone’s also committed to enable 5G service by the mid of November. According to sources, Samsung will enable 5G phones from November 15. Earlier the plan was to enable 5G service by December which is now advanced to month before. There is currently more than 160 kinds of 5G mobile devices available in India and 5G handset users account over 70 to 80 million. Nearly 125 models from the available 160 models have already been activated.

The device manufacturers had a concern about the slow pace of 5G network provided by the telecom service may lead to complaints from the users in near future, was discussed in the meet.

Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel networks will provide the 5G service second week of november.

The official statement of Apple, shared in its timeline in October reads, soon after the network validation, quality and performance testing best 5G experience to iPhone will be provided in India after working with carrier partners.

Keeping in view the concern of handsets makers, Communication and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw requested telcos to grow 5G network pace. Weekly installation of 5G towers must increase in number. Currently 2,500 towers are installed need to be pushed to 10,000 in a week.
